ABOUT

Hi, I´m Katie!

I started Your Cyber Coach because I saw too many entrepreneurs and startups vulnerable to Cyber Security and GDPR risks that could devastate their reputation, income, and wellbeing.

My mission is to empower them with the tools and knowledge to secure their businesses without unnecessary stress or complexity.

When I first encountered security, it didn’t feel relevant to me. Like most of us, I ignored the advice until things went wrong. The same went for GDPR, which seemed like just another eLearning to rush through – until I understood its importance.

Now I’m an award-winning Cyber Security expert and certified Data Protection Officer (DPO). I see how important these protections are – not only for business owners and clients but for society as a whole. Cyber Security and GDPR are about cultivating trust, preventing stressful incidents, and safeguarding hard-earned income.

As a non-techie and a woman in a male-dominated industry, I know what it’s like to feel out of place and hesitate to ask questions. I’m committed to breaking down barriers by providing relevant, inclusive, and business-first training and consultancy. Accessibility matters deeply to me because everyone deserves to feel confident in protecting their business. That’s why I offer practical, jargon-free solutions that align with your business goals.

As Your Cyber Coach, I see myself as your trusted partner, here to help you achieve your goals, grow your security confidence, and exceed your own expectations.

Think of me as your biggest cheerleader on this journey to securing your business and building a brand that clients trust. Leaving you empowered, rather than overwhelmed.

Let’s make Cyber Security and GDPR strengths—not stressors—as you grow your business with confidence.

Ready to secure what you’ve built? Let’s get started.

MY STORY

Where it all began and how it’s going now

2017: Startup Chaos and Resilience

My first experience with startups was a whirlwind—wearing multiple hats, cramming a year’s worth of activity into a single quarter, and equipping teams with the tools they needed to succeed. I even founded the Diversity and Inclusion Committee (despite being one of the most junior people in the company), driven by my passion for empowering people.

Around the same time, I had my first brush with GDPR, trying to get the team to complete mandatory eLearning. Spoiler: It took months, and most people were none the wiser. Security wasn’t taken seriously—it was seen as a blocker, not an enabler—and best practices were often ignored.

2019: A Surprising Pivot

After being made redundant from my role in the People Team, I searched for a career that combined people, process, culture, and technology. Someone suggested cybersecurity. My first reaction? “That’s not me!” But I gave it a shot.

My first interview required me to present on cyber security to a room full of experts—an intimidating challenge for someone new to the field. To my surprise, it went well, and I landed the role. It marked the beginning of a career I hadn’t expected but grew to love.

2022: Simplifying Security and Making an Impact

When I started in security, the jargon and complexity felt overwhelming, so I broke it down into plain, relatable terms—both for myself and for others. This approach, coupled with my focus on aligning security with business needs, led to clients choosing to work with me to improve and transform their security practices.

It wasn’t just security that clicked for me—once I truly understood GDPR and its purpose for businesses and people, I found joy in helping clients on that journey. Seeing the “aha!” moments when business owners realised they could protect their clients and their brand at the same time was incredibly rewarding.

In just three years, I went from a junior role to leading large-scale security transformations for businesses. My success came from simplifying complex security processes, linking security and GDPR to real business priorities, and helping clients take actionable steps to protect their organisations. These skills are now the foundation of how I help entrepreneurs like you safeguard your business and build trust with your clients.

Outside of work, I’ve volunteered to help women in tech break into leadership roles and created a faculty of young professionals to foster collaboration in the finance sector. I’ve also spoken on stages, facilitated panels, and delivered workshops, sharing my insights and empowering others.

2024: Shaking Things Up

Now, it’s time to do things differently. The traditional 9-6 grind wasn’t working for my body, mind, or soul. More importantly, every time I talked to my entrepreneur friends about security or GDPR, I heard the same thing:

  • “It feels overwhelming.”
  • “I don’t even know where to start.”
  • “It’s just not a priority until it’s too late.”

I realised my mission: to make security and data protection accessible, approachable, and empowering for busy entrepreneurs and startup founders.

Now, I’m here to guide business owners like you to protect what you’ve built, safeguard your income, and cultivate trust with your clients—without the stress or jargon. Let’s make security and data protection your strengths, not your stressors.
